An Overview on Admission in US Universities for MBA

The most essential thing to study MBA in USA depends on student's interest, financial background and maturity. More than one million of students come to US to pursue management course, as it opens surplus lucrative career options for them. The decision of seeking MBA from the country is the right step towards dynamic career move. Plethora of business schools, under two broad categories- public (state supported), and private (autonomous) institutions, offer MBA degree to domestic as well as international students.

Depending on their choice, aspirants can choose either state supported or private b-schools to study MBA in USA. In general, most of the schools follow two years MBA regular program systems, while there are other that provide executive MBA program, which is of varying duration. MBA aspirants can choose either full-time or executive MBA.

The Management colleges have spread their root far and large in field of providing business education. There are vibrant disciplines available to pursue for students. If your dream lies to pursue MBA, then you can apply for a wide range of specializations, as offered by the institutes – MBA in marketing, finance, human resource, international business, marketing & operation, rural management, insurance & risk management, agri-business, and many others.

Eligibility for MBA in US

Most of the top universities allows students for MBA who have completed 16 years of undergraduate education. It means, four years of education after you complete high school. As an Indian a student if you complete first year or two-year degree, you will not be eligible to Study MBA in USA. All the same, for Indian candidates, it is mandatory to have a post-graduate degree or a professional four-year degree like engineering or a degree from a recognized one-year university affiliated program. In addition to this, there are other retirements such as -

  • Secure a good GMAT score
  • Most universities accept acquire students if they have good command over English language. You need to show them a TOEFL score of 79 on the internet based test (iBT) or IELTS score of 6.5 and above
  • Usually two or three letters of recommendation/ references/ assessment reports are required. It may be from individuals other than family members. The letter must assess the applicant’s performance either in an academic institution or at the work place.
  • You should take references from both academic & professional sources

A side from the above context, applicants needs to submit a personal statements/ admission essays. These statements have significant role in allowing you to take admission in US universities. You must focus on how this MBA will help you in your future career plans. Moreover, the essay should also lay emphasis on the students' aims and objectives, including their ambition for success.
